The Viennese baritone Clemens Unterreiner has been a soloist at the Vienna State Opera since 2005, where he has already become a crowd pleaser in more than 21 premieres, over 900 performances in over 70 different roles. His operatic repertoire ranges all the way from classical to contemporary composers and includes all major baritone roles like Telramund, Escamillo, Wolfram, Albert, Marcello, Faninal, Donner, Don Giovanni, Papageno, Gunther, Danton, Valentin and many more. He also performs in oratorios, song recitals and often takes the stage in operetta concerts.
He is currently collaborating with the greatest conductors, directors and singers and will sing numerous first baritone roles in the 150th anniversary season of the Vienna State Opera this season such as Donner (Rheingold), Gunther (Götterdämmerung), Minister (Fidelio), Marcello (La Bohéme), Faninal (Rosenkavalier), Papageno (Magic Flute), Albert (Werther) etc. as well as other role debuts, recitals and concerts in Vienna and abroad. At the renowned summer festival “operklosterneuburg” he will celebrate his role debuts in all four evil roles of the villains (Les Contes d´Hoffmann) and in 2020, as well as many other first baritone roles, Shaprless (Madama Butterfly) and his role debut as the high priest (Samson et Dalila) will be on his schedule.
Numerous guest engagements have already led him among others to the New York Carnegie Hall, Royal Opera House Copenhagen, Salzburg Festival, Savonlinna Opera Festival, Opéra de Nice, Royal Opera House Muscat, New National Theater Tokyo or the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.
As a sought-after concert and recital singer, he has regularly performed at various concerts and festivals in Austria and abroad and has repeatedly thrilled audiences among others at the Konzerthaus Vienna, the Palau de la Música Barcelona, the Wiener Musikverein, the Konzerthaus Baden-Baden or the Vienna Hall Tokyo.
