2017 Sonja Šarić made her debut as Leonora in Verdi’s Il trovatore at Oper Graz, where she also perform Contessa Almaviva in a new production of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. In April 2018, she made her debut as Madame Cortese in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims in Graz.
Her plans include her debut at Opéra de Paris in Wagners Die Walküre and Leonora in a new production of Verdis Il Trovatore at Landestheater Linz.
Born in Sombor (Serbia) in 1990, Sonja Šarić studied with Snežana Stamenković at Staatliche Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Mannheim (Germany). 2017 Šarić was awarded The Grand Prix and the Gold Medaille of the 40th Maria Callas Singing Competition. 2015 she was awarded with First Prize at the Anneliese Rothenberger Competition. In 2013, the First Prize at the 7th International Competition for the Youth in Oldenburg, followed by the 3rd Prize at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Competition in Berlin. 2012 she was awarded the Prize for the best Mozart Aria, the Audience Prize and First Prize at International Antonín Dvořák Competition.
Sonja Šarić took part in master Classes with Brigitte Fassbaender, Cheryl Studer, Marijana Lipovsek, Hedwig Fassbaender, Angelika Kirchschlager, Thomas Hampson, Wolfram Rieger and Thomas Quasthoff. 2012 Šarić was awarded with scholarship by Richard-Wagner Society and 2011 by the Walter und Charlotte Hamel Stiftung.
Since 2016 Sonja Šaric is a member of Opera studio at Oper Graz. 2015 she made her debut as Maria Stuarda in Donizetti’s Maria Stuarda at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava. At the Baden-Baden Easter Festival 2015, she took part in the new production of Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier (Berliner Philharmoniker with Sir Simon Rattle). 2014 she performed Manon in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut “for Kids” at the Baden-Baden Festival. 2011 Šaric made her opera debut as Contessa Almaviva in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at E.T.A. Hoffmann Theater Bamberg (Germany).
Her concert repertoire includes Verdi’s Messa da Requiem Beethoven’s Symphony N° 9, Bach’s St. John’s Passion, B Minor Mass and Christmas Oratorio, Handel’s Judas Maccabaeus, Mozart’s Masses and Vivaldi’s Gloria. 2013 Šarić took part at Lied Academy of international Music Festival Heidelberger Frühling, followed by recital 2015 in Heidelberg. Her Lied reprtoire includes lieder by R.Strauss, Schubert, Maher, Rachmaninov.
Sonja Šarić has worked with orchestras including Berliner Philharmoniker, Berliner Symphoniker, Bochumer Symphoniker, Kurpfälzisches Kammerorchester, Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, Philharmonic Orchester Graz, Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie Konstanz and worked with conductors including Ivor Bolton, Dirk Kaftan, Oksana Lyniv, Sir Simon Rattle, Lior Shambadal, Steven Sloane, Andrea Sanguineti, Tomáš Brauner.
