Maida Hundeling was born to German parents in Bizerta, Tunisia. She started her carreer in 2011 as a member of Thüringer Landesbühnen Eisenach (Germany) where she was part of the ensemble for two seasons before starting her international carreer. She is currently singing the leading roles of her Fach (dramatic soprano) worldwide. Roles include the title parts in Puccini’s Tosca, Janacek’s Jenufa, Verdi’s Aida, Strauss‘ Ariadne auf Naxos, Puccini’s Turandot and Strauss‘ Salome as well as Elsa in Wagner’s Lohengrin, Elisabeth in Tannhäuser, Senta in Flying Dutchman, Leonore in Beethoven’s Fidelio, the Foreign Princess in Dvorák’s Rusalka, Marie in Berg’s Wozzeck among others. The German Soprano has been singing with companies such as the National Theater Prague, the Slovak National Theater Bratislava, Houston Grand Opera, Edmonton Opera, Opéra de Montréal, Teatro Comunale di Modena, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Staatstheater Nürnberg, Vienna Volksoper, Opera Leipzig, Staatstheater Wiesbaden and Nationaltheater Mannheim among many others. After having debuted the title part in Strauss‘ Elektra in concert version with the Slovak National Philarmony in 2017 very successfully she gave her highly acclaimed scenical role debut at Germany’s Staatstheater Braunschweig in spring 2018. Future engagements include her debut with the ROH Covent Garden in Wagner’s Die Walküre in autumn 2018.
