Bernadett Fodor


Bernadett Fodor was born in Hungary and received her musical training at the Conservatory in Györ and at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. She participated in master classes with Prof. Gabriele Lechner, Ks. Sylvia Sass and Thierry Pillon (2007 in Pezenas, France) and Dame Gwyneth Jones (2010 in Bayreuth).

She has won several Hungarian singing competitions (Schubert and Kodály Special Award) and in 2010 in Vienna the first Birgit Nilsson Memorial Prize to promote young opera singers. In June 2015 she won the important Austrian musical theater award 2015 "Goldener Schikaneder" in the category "Best supporting female singer" for her impressive interpretation of Erda in a new production of Das Rheingold at the Landestheater Linz.

Most recently she was highly acclaimed for her debut as Erda (Rheingold and Siegfried) and Waltraute (Götterdämmerung) in Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Landestheater Linz. As Erda she had also a great success at the Palace of Arts Budapest under M ° Adam Fischer. Her plans include, as Erda again, her return to the Oper Frankfurt and as Erda and Waltraute her debut at the State Theatre in Wiesbaden and at the International May Festival in Wiesbaden.

Since 2013/14 Bernadett Fodor has been a member of the Landestheater Linz, where she sang parts like Erda in Das Rheingold and Siegfried, Schwertleite and Fricka in Die Walküre, Waltraute and 1st Norn in Götterdämmerung, in the title role of Bizet's Carmen, Annina in Der Rosenkavalier and 3rd Lady in Die Zauberflöte.

In May 2013, she gave her debut as Ulrica in Verdi's Un ballo in maschera at the Oper Frankfurt. In the same year she sang for the first time the 3rd Lady in Mozart's Die Zauberflöte at the Bregenz Festival, where she was invited again in summer 2014.

2010/2011 she made her debut at the Oper Frankfurt as Schwertleite und Rossweisse in Wagner's Die Walküre under the baton of Sebastian Weigle, directed by Vera Nemirova and in 2012 she sang at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires “Colón ring" Flosshilde and Schwertleite.

She had stage debut in 2008 in the role of Suzuki at the National Centre for the Performing Arts Mumbai. During her studies in Vienna, she already performed central roles (Judith - Bluebeard's Castle, mother - Hansel and Gretel, Madame Flora - The medium) on stage at Schlosstheater Schönbrunn and at the New Studio Bühne.
