Mihai Dogotari

Baritone

Mihai Dogotari graduated from National Music Academy, Bucharest, Romania (2005-2011), he received his master’s degree at the same Music Academy in Bucharest and continued his education with European master classes of Luciana Serra, Tiziana Fabbricini, Federica Falasconi, William Matteuzzi, Stefano De Luca, Alfonso Antoniozzi and Massimo Lambertini.

He started his career at Orchestra and Chorus of the National University of Music Bucherest where he performed Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas by Purcel, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini (2009). His recent and upcoming engagements include Dandini in La Cenerentola by Rossini (Rares Zaharia Opera Festiva , Sibiu), Schaunard in La Boheme by Puccini (25th MARIA BIEȘU International Opera and Ballet Festival, Moldova), Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro (The National Opera and Balet Theatre Maria Bieşu, Moldova). His operatic engagements include l'Uomo Sakili in Lupus in Fabula by Sargenti, Alessio in La Sonnambula by Bellini, Mercutio in Romeo et Juliette by Gounod, Alidoro in La Cenerentola by Rossini at the Teatro Donizetti di Bergamo, Teatro di Varese, Teatro Auditorium di Trento, l'Auditorium S. Antonio di Morbegno, Teatro dell'Aquila di Fermo, Teatro Alighieri di Ravenna, Teatro Cagnoni di Vigevano, Teatro della Societa' di Lecco, Teatro Ariston di Mantova, Teatro Ponchielli di Cremona, Teatro Comunale di Bolzano, Teatro Fraschini di Pavia, Teatro Ariosto Reggio di Emilia, Teatro Grande di Brescia, Milano Teatro di Arcimboldi, Teatro Sociale di Como (2010-2011); Gaspar in Rita by Donizetti at the Opera Experimental Studio “Ludovic Spiess”, Romania (2010); Barone Douphol in La Traviata by Verdi at the Teatro Ventidio Basso di Ascoli Piceno (2011).

From 2012 till 2017 Mihai was a soloist of Vienna State Opera, where his roles include Commissario in Madama Butterfly, Dancairo in Carmen, Company Commander, Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin, Antonio in Le nozze di Figaro, Montano in Otello, Paris in Roméo e Juliette, Marullo in Rigoletto, Haly in L'italiana in Algeri, Jäger in Rusalka, Sciarrone in Tosca, Cristiano in Un ballo in maschera, Bretigny in Manon, Aronte in Armide), Sid in La fanciulla del West.

Mihai Dogotari is the prize-winner of several international competitions, such as "61 Concorso per giovani cantanti lirici d'Europa", (Como, Italy, 2010, Special mention), The National Contest and Festival of Romanian Lied (Brasov, Romania, 2009, 1st prize), International Singing Competition Maestros of Lyrical Art "MAGDA IANCULESCU" (Bucharest, Romania, 2009, the 3rd prize), National Contest "Mihail Jora" (Bucharest, Romania, 2008, 1rst prize). Mihai's current repertoire also includes Aeneas (Dido und Aeneas), Alessio (La sonnambula), Gasparo (Rita), Mercutio (Romeo et Juliette), Malatesta (Don Pasquale) und Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Don Giovanni, Eugen Onegin, Silvio (Pagliacci), Jelezki (Pique Dame) and Robert (Iolanta).
