The young Romanian soprano studied Voice at Bucharest University and made her opera debut as Despina in Mozart‘s Cosi fan tutte at the Cuvilliés Theater in Munich.
Mirella Bunoaica had recently sung Nanetta in Falstaff in Zurich Opera and Violetta Valeri in La traviata at Sanvolinna Opera Festival and fer near future engagements include Gilda in Rigoletto at Stuttgart Opera House.
During the 2014/15 season Ms. Bunoaica was heard as Thalie in Platee by Jean-Philippe Rameau at the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where she is a member of the ensemble since 2013/14 with performances as Nanetta, Pamina, Violetta, Mimi and Amina in La Sonnambula.
2013/14 she was Violetta in a new production of La Traviata at the Angers/Nantes Opera.
In summer 2012, she performed the role of Vivetta in Cilea‘s L’Arlesiana at the Theater Freiburg (incl. CD release).
In July 2011 she was praised by audience and press for a concert of arias and duets with José Carreras in Carcassonne.
She had great success as Mimi in La Bohème at the Oper Bamberg and as Violetta in La Traviata at the Festival Bad Homburg and as Gilda in a new production of Rigoletto (Luc Bondy) at the Wiener Festwochen.
From 2008-09 she was a member of the Opera Studio at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. She appeared in numerous concerts in Romania, Italy, Austria and Germany. Ms Bunoaica won the first prize at the National Performance Contest Martian Negrea as well as at the International Contest of Vocal Performance Sabin Drăgoi. She attended masterclasses given by, among others, Edda Moser, Mariana Nicolesco and Margret Honig.
