Rosa Bove

Mezzosoprano

Mezzo-soprano Rosa Bove studied at the Conservatory in her hometown Salerno with Carlo Tuand and with Virginio Profeta. Her first operatic engagements started in Naples, Lecce and Foggia and at the Festival Pergolesi Spontini in Jesi where she appeared in 2008 as Giannina in Spontini’s Li puntigli de le donne under Corrado Rovaris.

Subsequently she walked the international scene in numerous roles such as Valentiano in Handel’s Ezio under Attilio Cremonesi at the Schwetzingen Festival 2009, Ajutanta in Salieri’s Il mondo alla rovescia under Federico Maria Sardelli in Legnano and Verona, Annina (La Traviata) and Alcandro in Pergolesi’s L’Olimpiade under Alessandro De Marchi at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Cherubino (Le Nozze di Figaro) at The Byblos International Festival in Lebanon, Suzuki (Madama Butterfly) in Jesi, Cardella in Pergolesi’s Lo frate ‘nnamorato under Fabio Biondi at the Festival Pergolesi Spontini, Aristea in Vivaldi’s L’Olimpiade under Laurence Cummings at Garsington Opera and Semira in Hasse’s Artaserse under Corrado Rovaris at the Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca.

Rosa Bove made several important debuts in recent seasons. Clotilde in Norma at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, Oraspe in Paisiello's Zenobia in Palmira at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Cabaletta in the world premiere staging of Rossini’s Le nuvole di Carta at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo,  Tisbe in La Cenerentola at the Opéra de Montecarlo and Lucilla in La scala di Seta at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, where she returned the following seasons as Second Dame in The magic flute and Ernestina in L'Occasione fa il ladro.

Guest at the Salzburger Festspiele with Cecilia Bartoli in Gluck’s Iphigenié en Tauride as Femme Grecque under Diego Fasolis, she returned at the Pfingstfestpiele and Summer Festival in 2018 as Zulma in L’italiana in Algeri. Further highlights in 2018/19 included: Tisbe in La Cenerentola at the Lucerne Festival, in Martingy, in Spain at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid and at the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona and in Italy at the Teatro Amintore Galli in Rimini. She gave her debut at the Teatro Regio di Torino as Zulma in L'Italiana in Algeri conducted by Alessandro De Marchi and at the Fenice in Venice she performed as Filindo in Vivaldi‘s Dorilla under Diego Fasolis.  Projects in the season 2019/20 were Lucilla in La Scala di seta at the Fenice in Venice, the revival of Vivaldi‘s Dorilla at the Wexford Opera Festival, Valdinoni’s Pinocchio in Venice, and  Le nozze di Mozart conducted by Attilio Cremonesi in Postdam. In Summer 2020 she sang in La serva padrona conducted by Diego Fasolis in Lugano.

As a concert singer Rosa Bove has a wide range of repertoire especially for the sacred music. Most worth mentioning concerts are Pergolesi’s Confitebor tibi domine with the Orchestra Mozart under Claudio Abbado in Bologna (recorded live by Deutsche Grammophon) and Mozart’s Requiem under Cristopher Hogwood at the Rai in Turin, as well as Vivaldi’s Juditha Triumphans at the Festival de Beaune and the Festival Soli Deo Gloria in Braunschweig, Duruflè’s Requiem with the Orchestra Filarmonica di Torino and the Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle and Donizetti's Requiem at the Beirut Chants Festival.
