Tomasz Kumięga


Tomasz Kumięga, born in 1991, graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw in 2015. From 2012-2014 he was a member of the Opera Academy of the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw. He was twice awarded scholarships funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland and has won several major singing competitions in Poland.

While in Warsaw he performed Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte – W. A. Mozart), Demetrius (Midsummer Night’s dream – B. Britten), Marullo (Rigoletto – G. Verdi), Nobleman of Brabant (Lohengrin – R. Wagner) at the Polish National Opera House. Also, he performed Mr Emmet (Mr Emmet Takes a Walk – P. M. Davis) during the Opera Academy workshops with David Pountney. He has also sung the role of Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte – W. A. Mozart) at the Theatre Lope de Vega in Sevilla (Spain) and in Istambul State Opera House (Turkey).

During the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence 2012 he sang Papageno (Die Zauberflöte – W. A. Mozart) and Masetto (Don Giovanni – W. A. Mozart) as part of the Académie Européenne de Musique. In the same year he was made a HSBC Laureat of Académie Européenne de Musique, Festival d’Aixen- Provence.

In 2014 he sang the title role of Don Giovanni (Don Giovanni – W. A. Mozart) at the Warsaw Chamber Opera House during the Mozart Festival. Also in 2014 he made his debut at the Miskolc National Theatre, Hungary singing Junius (The Rape of Lucretia – B. Britten) and at the National Philharmonia in Warsaw as Harlequin (Ariadne auf Naxos – R. Strauss).

In 2014 he became a member of Atelier Lyrique - Académie de l’Opéra National de Paris. During this season he performed Guglielmo (Cosi fan tutte - W. A. Mozart) for Atelier Lyrique at Maison des Arts de Creteil, Paris. During the 2015/2016 season he performed Bariton (Be With Me Now – V. Mendonça, D. Jannsons) at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Prince Yamadori (Madame Butterfly – G. Puccini) at Opéra Bastille and Orfeo (L’Orfeo – C. Monteverdi) at Opéra Bastille

He has performed extensively in concerts and opera in Poland and abroad in places such as Belgium (BOZAR Theatre Brussels, La Monnaie), Cyprus (European University in Nicosia), Denmark, France (Opéra National de Paris, Opéra de Lille, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence), Germany (Prinzregententheater Munich), Hungary (Hungarian State Opera), Italy (Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia), Latvia (Latvian National Opera), Lebanon, Portugal (Opera Lisbon, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation), Russia (Conservatory of Chelyabinsk), Spain and Sweden.

He worked with conductors: Bertrand de Billy Philippe Jordan, Jacek Kaspszyk, Carlo Montanaro, Krzysztof Penderecki, Jérémie Rocher, Daniele Rustioni, Stefan Soltesz, Andriy Yurkevych, Jean-François Verdier

He is currently working with Eytan Pessen.
